In talks this morning with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that this second meeting between both of them in a short period of time was proving very productive.

Joseph Muscat said that they will meet again very soon in Rome where new developments in oil exploration are expected to be announced.

He said that new areas have been identified and an agreement should be signed early in 2014.

On immigration Dr Muscat said that talks with other countries are ongoing and with Italy and Greece holding the EU Presidency next year there should be more encouraging prospects for the Mediterranean countries that have to cope with the problems of immigration.
