An elderly man found sprawled on the floor of his house was hospitalised after prompt action by a sergeant and constable from the Qormi District Police.

The police were informed at about 8.30 p.m., by the man’s nephew who had not seen his 78-year old uncle for the past two days.

After looking through the letter box and seeing the man lying on the floor the police officers called for an ambulance before climbing a one and a half storey high wall into a garden at the back of the house, assisted by the nephew, who provided them with two ladders.
The sergeant and constable then broke through a window in order to enter the residence and let a medical team, which had arrived on site, in through the front door.

The police were subsequently informed that the elderly man did not sustain any injuries and was in a stable condition.
