A group of 97 migrants was brought to Malta last night after their boat was intercepted some seven nautical miles off Marsaxlokk.

The migrants whose boat was sinking were transferred to a rescue launch.

Among the migrants were a pregnant woman and a baby.

Nearly 300 migrants had arrived a few days previously.
