Malta Sports Scholarships 2013 open

Wednesday, 22 May 2013, 23:40

The Malta Sports Scholarships 2013 were launched today by the Parliamentary Secretary for Research and Innovation, Youth and Sport, Stefan Buontempo. The scholarships are open to anyone who would like to specialise in the training of a specific sport's discipline or a subject related to the sports' sector.

The scope of this scheme is to attract more individuals to follow careers related to specific sports. This way, the level in each sport discipline will rise and the number of professionals to support local athletes will increase.

“The Government believes that our local athletes should also benefit from opportunities such as these,” said Stefan Buontempo.

Anyone can apply for these scholarships, including those of a young age. If the person interested is still in secondary school, separate arrangements need to be made to continue going to school in the country where they are going to train.

The closing date for the applications is 21st June 2013. The regulations, application forms and reference forms can be found on and One can email any queries to [email protected]
