The English-Speaking Union of Malta (ESU) is expanding its educational programmes and boosting its team to take on new challenges.
Yvette Micallef commenced her role as Assistant Director of Education on 1 September, 2012, to aid in the implementation and consolidation of ESU Malta's three main educational programmes: the Arm of Support, the Public Speaking Programme and the Debating Programme.
Yvette has just completed her BA Honours degree in English at the University of Malta, and is currently set to begin her Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing with Kingston University in London.
She has experience in various sectors, including banking, manufacturing, the media, advertising and education. She has experience in teaching on a one-to-one basis at primary as well as at secondary level, and has worked with children who suffer from learning difficulties or hyperactive disorders, among others. Her role in advertising also included public relations and the organisation of national events. Yvette currently acts as a scriptwriter for a local children’s television programme.
Marie-Therese Camilleri has also joined the team at ESU Malta as the Co-ordinator and Tutor of the Arm of Support programme at St Margaret College, Żabbar Primary A. Marie-Therese has experience in teaching English to children of all ages, but particularly to young children who learn English through play. She has already worked with the school and its students as a volunteer.
Marie-Therese has just completed her BA Honours degree in English at the University of Malta and will further her studies, focusing her Masters research on the Arm of Support programme.
