
The Canadian Portuguese singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado is in Malta for the sixth edition of Isle of MTV concert to be held at the Granaries in Floriana on Tuesday evening. This is Furtado's first visit to Malta. She hailed Malta's ancient features and characteristics saying "it's gorgeous" and that she would definately return to the island.
Speaking at an interview with maltastar.com, Nelly Furtado revealed that she writes her songs whenever she feels inspired. She said that she managed to write one song in Malta while on the yacht . Furtado mentioned that her voice is her music adding that everyone can relate to her songs, as she expresses her feelings and emotions through her lyrics and music.
Furtado sings in English as well as in the Spanish language. Proud of her Portuguese roots, the singer-songwriter remarked that in the future she would like to record two albums in Portuguese as well as another one in English and Spanish.
Dressed in a bright red dress, she looked solar in her naturally tanned skin. Her deep green eyes define her face.
She spoke with enthusiasm about tomorrow's concert and said she loves performing in the open.
Furtado first gained fame with her debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, and its single "I'm Like a Bird", which won a 2001 Juno Award for Single of the Year and a 2002 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her second studio album, Folklore, was released followed by the world acclaimed third album Loose, featuring the number-one hits "Promiscuous", "Maneater", "Say It Right" and "All Good Things (Come to an End)". After a three-year break, she released her first full-length Spanish album, Mi Plan. For Mi Plan, Furtado received the Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. Furtado's fourth English-language studio album, The Spirit Indestructible will be launched in September.
