Over 40,000 people have signed up as donors, following an intensive awareness campaign run by the Transplant Support Group, made possible with the help of its sponsor Bank of Valletta.
Bank of Valletta has just renewed its support to the Transplant Support Group, which is the voluntary organization that brings together organ transplantees and those awaiting a transplant and looks after their needs and well-being.
Charles Borg, CEO at Bank of Valletta presented the Bank’s sponsorship to Alfred Debattista, President and James Muscat, Vice-President of the Transplant Support Group.
“Bank of Valletta has been supporting the Transplant Support Group since its inception in the year 2000,” said Mr Borg. “The Group is often the only support for persons with life-threatening conditions and the Bank is proud to have a long-term association with an organisation that provides such a valuable service to our community.”
“Many families facing the hardships of dealing with a transplant experience great physical, emotional and financial struggles,” said Mr Debattista. “The Transplant Support Group strives to provide its members with relief and support during these trying times while providing a feeling of security and comfort to persons in a similar condition.”
“The Group’s ongoing awareness campaigns are leaving their mark, with registrations exceeding the 40,000 mark,” he continued. “We are delighted to have recently received an award from the Foundation for Human Resources Development in the Corporate Social Responsibility Category.”
