Experienced and budding golfers will once more be taking part in this year's HSBC Scratch Challenge, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC)'s calendar. In a tradition dating back to 1891, the two-day tournament is played during the last weekend of March, which this year falls on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 March.

HSBC Malta is sponsoring the RMCG for the first time.  The agreement was signed by HSBC's Head of Global Banking and Markets Chris Bond and Captain Ian Macpherson for the Royal Malta Golf Club.

The format is based on an individual aggregate 36-hole medal played off scratch.

"HSBC Malta is one of our major corporate sponsors. Apart from funding the HSBC Scratch Challenge, HSBC Malta's sponsorship will support the RMGC's biennial Junior Academy International Tournament, to be held end October 2012," said Ian Macpherson, Captain of the Royal Malta Golf Club.

Chris Bond added that: “HSBC is proud to be supporting the RMGC. Golf certainly appeals to a large number of our top customers. We are also keen to support the development of the junior golf academy here in Malta. As many will know, HSBC sponsors golf all over the world, working with local communities, youth academies and international tournaments. The game has appeal all over the world and fits well with HSBC's position as the world's leading international bank"
