Volkswagen is launching its new Up entry-level in Europe and has confirmed that it will launch a five-door version of the vehicle in 2012.
The Cross Up concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it is expected that this new city car will look similar, retaining the Cross Up’s basic shape. However, VW has not yet confirmed production of the Cross Up.
There will be a styling difference in the five door model in that its shoulder lines and windows will form a straight line, thereby creating a more upright appearance.
Both the three door Up and the five door Up will be powered by three-cylinder petrol engines, with output choices of 44kW and 55kW. A two-cylinder diesel hybrid and all-electric powertrains are also expected in the future.
