The next Children’s and family allowances are to be paid three weeks early so that parents will be better able to buy uniforms and books

Social Solidarity Minister Marie-Louise told a news conference in front of the Birkirkara Primary School this morning that the allowances were being paid out next Saturday instead of in October.

17,500 families will benefit from this early payments which total 5.9 million euros for around 25,000 children
A total of  23,000 families will benefit from a supplementary allowance of 1.6 million euros.

Ms Coleiro-Prece said the payments were being made early after a number of mothers proposed the idea to the Prime Minister. She said the government is considering bringing forward other payment dates.

Other suggestions, she said,  may be sent by e-mail to [email protected] .
