 Local councils to produce studies on sustainable development

The local councils of Had Dingli, Hamrun and San Lawrenz Gozo have been commissioned to produce a study on sustainable development in their respective localities.
The Local Council were allocated the sum of €25,000 each.
The project was discussed during a meeting held at the Labour headquarters on Wednesday.
Ian Borg and Vince Bonella, mayors of Had Dingli and Hamrun, respectively addressed the themes of environment, waste management and sustainable energy.
Stefan Buontempo, PL’s spokesperson for the Local Council, emphasized the importance of sustainable development, where the residents are placed at the heart of policy making.
The PL welcomed the government’s decision to choose these localities to carry out such a study.
Dr Buontempo encouraged the government to broaden this process to all local councils.
