(Bloomberg) -- UAL Corp.'s United Airlines and Continental Airlines Inc. won European Union antitrust approval for their all-stock merger.
The transaction won't harm competition in the 27-nation EU, the European Commission said in an e-mailed statement today.
The new company would surpass Delta as the world's biggest airline and mesh United's Pacific routes with Continental's service in Latin America and over the Atlantic.
