17 Blockbusters to be Screened in Local Cinemas This Summer

KRS Film Distributors have announced the 2010 Summer film schedule covering 14 weeks of new cinema releases from June 30 to September 29 with a programme of 42 new films. The list includes films for all ages and tastes and range from adventure, action drama, animation, thrillers and comedy. 

The following are some of the 17 blockbusters listed amongst this summer’s film releases: 

Shrek Forever After, released last week and already reviewed by Maltastar.com on 2 July.

Toy Story 3 is the third instalment in the successful Toy  Story animated film series with Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton lending their voices to Woody and Ken who have now accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday but wonder what would happen when that day arrives.  In this third instalment we find Andy preparing to leave for college leaving his loyal toys seriously troubled about their uncertain future. 

Eat, Pray, Love Julia Roberts plays Liz Gilbert who had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having - a husband, a house, a successful career - yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. 
 

The A-Team. A film based on the 1980’s popular action packed TV series with Liam Neeson taking over George Peppard’s role as Col John “Hannibal” Smith who led a team of Special Forces Vietnam veterans out to clear their name for a crime they did not commit. Updated to today’s situation in Iraq, this film produced by brothers Tony and Ridley Scott is packed with spectacular action sequences and stunts. 
 

Karate Kid Will Smith is one of the producers of this remake of the 1984 film with the same name. Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith plays, Dre Parker who from Detroit finds himself in China his mother’s career Jackie Chan as Mr Han is the man, secretly a master of kung fu, who teaches Dre that kung fu is not only about fist fights, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life. 
 

Predators is based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 sci-fi action thriller about a group of persons who find themselves hunted by extra-terrestrial warriors. Oscar Winner for “The Pianist” Adrien Brody

Takes a completely different role as the leader of seven person who find themselves parachuted on a planet where they are to be game for the hunting predator aliens on the planet. Computer generated images and a very good cast turn this film into an entertaining treat to fans of sci-fi/horror/action movies. 
 

Wall Street:Money Never Sleeps Michael Douglas reprises his role as Gordon Gekko in a sequel to Oliver Stone’s 1987 critically acclaimed “Wall Street” As the global economy teeters on the brink of disaster, a young Wall Street trader partners with disgraced former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko on a two-tiered mission: To alert the financial community to the coming doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of the young trader's mentor. 
 

Salt   Angelina Jolie is Evelyn Salt a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who is Salt?" 

Other films worth waiting for are “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” with Nicholas Cage and Monica Belluci “The Tournament” with Robert Carlyle and “Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” a 3D animated cartoon.
