Just when summer came to an end and we thought the PN brand couldn't be damaged further, we had three events which would make any government bar this one blush with shame.
First the embarrassment over what has happened to us in the EU.
Irrespective of any legal action John Dalli may take, and whether he may prove what he sets out to prove, we have total silence from the PN on Silvio Zammit. Why? Silvio Zammit is, or was, a PN deputy mayor from that blighted Sliema council. He was allegedly doing a brisk trade in offering meetings for a fee. John Dalli of course has already been the victim of a frame up and however hard Lou Bondi looks outraged on his fixed programmes and however much hysteria DCG tries to invoke...people unlike them, are cautious to judge just yet.
Incidentally isn't IMBECK the rep of the tobacco lobby. Perhaps he can tell us how this industry works. Is it as squeaky clean as the heavy oil power station lobbyists?
Then we had the collapse of a brand new power station, a power station nobody bar those who gained millions or who pushed it publicly wanted. Unlike the old power station which we haven't even paid for, we have, inexplicably and to our shame, paid up almost all the cost for this one. And surprise surprise it doesn't work; it has broken down, and may not be active for six months.
At €200 million this is the country's largest purchase and it does not work.
Have the people been conned on this one too?
Last but by no means least we had the Arriva pile up. Arriva has been a disaster. We have less buses, and buses which are too large for our roads. There are more cars on our roads now not less, and people are spending more on their lives at bus stops. No wonder the London mayor said bendy buses are clogging up the streets of Malta. How embarrassing for our High Commissioner in London to have been egged on by failure ridden Gatt to complain to the Conservative government about Boris's very truthful description.
Malta made to look foolish in the EU and at the Tory Party conference. Malta spending a fortune on dirty technology which breaks down when it’s brand new. Malta led by this PN machine has been conned.
PN.CON sums up how the people feel they have been conned by Gonzi PN. Not only are our roads clogged up by buses, the rooms of governance and good government have been irrevocably clogged up by Gonzi PN.
