
A friend of murdered lawyer Margaret Mifsud, Geraldine Watson today gave her evidence in court of Mifsud's unhappy marriage and fear that her estranged husband will take the children if she left him.
Mr. Nizar Mustafa Al-gadi, Dr Mifsud's former husband, who is accused of murdering her in her car in April.
Mrs Watson said Dr Mifsud lived in constant fear but despite of that she gave the children access to their father as she felt they needed their father.
She told the court that Dr Mifsud told her in an e-mail correspondence, that her former husband used to threaten to take their children if she left him and that he was violent, however she kept silent for the sake of the children.
Meanwhile, in another court hearing, Daniel Briffa, 25, of Birkirkara, was today condemned to two-month jail confinement suspended for a year, after injuring seriously Nizar Mustafa Al-Gadi, former husband of lawyer Margert Mifsud, whom he stands accused of murdering.
Briffa claimed he stabbed the Libyan over damage allegedly done to the Libyan's car during a cycling incident as self-defence because he was afraid of him.
The incident happened on February 15, 2009.
