A homeless 17 year old man has been kept under arrest after he was charged in court with stealing a bag belonging to two English tourists.

He stole the bag last Wednesday and was caught soon after. He cooperated with the police and gave everything back.

The court was told he had an extremely difficult upbringing and at present lives at YMCA as he is homeless. He is on very bad terms with his parents and grandmother and does not have where to live.

He has no money and inhales gas persistently and sometimes goes dizzy.

The police told the court that at YMCA the young man is given €2 a day and he has to steal to have some money to spend. Recently even the €2 payments was stopped as he started being difficult with other YMCA residents.

A social worker told the court that the young man has been trying hard to overcome his gas inhaling addiction this last four months but is not managing.

The young man’s lawyer told the curt that he should not be kept under arrest so that he can treat his addiction but the court said that the young man cannot be trusted and warned him that unless he reforms himself prison is going to end up his home.
