New Chairman for Malta Communications Authority

Dr. Antonio Ghio has been appointed by Government as the non-Executive Chairman of the Malta Communications Authority following the resignation of Mr. Philip Micallef, the present Executive Chairman, who is expected to take up a new post in Bermuda. 

Dr. Antonio Ghio graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta in 2001. In the same year he also obtained an LL.M with Distinction in Information Technology and Communications Law from the University of Strathclyde. 
He has been practicing as a lawyer for the past 11 years handling exclusively technology related matters including intellectual property, internet security, data protection and computer contracting amongst others. Ghio is a partner at Fenech & Fenech Advocates and heads its ICT Law Department. 

He also lectures ICT Law and Cyber Crime at the University of Malta and has been a member of the board of the Malta Communications Authority for the past four years.

Ghio is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of Malta, the International Bar Association as well as the International Technology Law Association. 

He is married and has a son.

Dr. Ghio is expected to take up his post in the beginning of December.
