Wayne Rooney headed England into a first half lead but Poland deserved their equalisier after dominating after the break. A point keeps England top of Group H but after a performance as patchy as the pitch manager Roy Hodgson has work to do.
As a bitter row continues after England’s U/21 win in Serbia where players and coaching staff were involved in clashes after the match, UEFA has charged both countries with racism. The English FA claims its players were subjected to taunts, violence and has missiles thrown at them. The British Sports Minister has called for severe sanctions against the Serbian Football Authorities.
Malta will be involved in a number of friendly internationals in the coming weeks. The national team will play Leichtenstein in Vaduz on November 14, the last time they met Malta won 2-1. The U/21 side will play Italy’s Serie B U/21 team next Tuesday at the Hibernian’s Stadium while the Women’s National team will play two games against Estonia in early November.
