
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettal raced to victory at the Korean Formula One Grand Prix and also took the lead in the championship. His team-mate Mark Webber made it a 1-2 for Red Bull. Vettal now has a six point lead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso who finished third in the race. Felipe Massa looked to have secured his seat with Ferrari for next year with his forth place finish but the McLaren challenge for the title looks over after Lewis Hamilton retired with mechanical problems.
Dani Pedrosa stormed to victory at the Japanese Moto GP ahead of Jorge Lorenzo. The Yamaha rider maintains his lead in the championship but his lead over his arch rival Pedrosa is now only twenty two points. It was a frustrating afternoon for Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow who retired on the last lap when he looked to have forth place sewn up, apparently he ran out of fuel.
Novak Djokovic won the Shanghai Masters after beating Olympic champion Andy Murray in an epic three sets. The Scotsman took the first set, then had match point in the second but Serbian Djokovic fought back to clinch the title.
Frank Lampard has been ruled out of England’s World Cup qualifier against Poland tomorrow. The Chelsea player has failed to recover from a calf injury and Theo Walcott is also out. He collided with the San Marino keeper during England’s 5-0 win last Friday and is still suffering chest pains.
Malta ended their UEFA U/19 Mini Championship with a solid 4-0 win against San Marino in Poland to finish in third place in their group behind Poland and group winners Holland.
