Seven of the first team members of the Victoria Hotspurs F.C. team that won the Gozo Football Association League Championship 50 years ago, in season 1961-62, together with the then president Dr. Victor Attard Bondi MD. and other committee members were the main guests at a celebratory dinner hosted by the present president Mr. George Said and members of his committee.
Mr. Joseph Attard, owner of the Boathouse Restaurant in Xlendi and a Hotspurs supporter himself, made sure the evening was a success by offering an excellent dinner besides an attractive memento of the occasion. George Vella Muskat, one of the members of the winning team, presented his collection of press reports, photos and other memorabilia of the 1961-62 season to the club.
Members and players of the club that have passed on were fondly remembered and the happy evening passed quickly away amid the hundred and one stories that re-emerged from the memories of those present.
Other guests included Mr. Charles Borg, then a/coach and Mr. Alvin Grech GFA president.
