The Labour Party believes in family values and therefore is very concerned about the situation of girls and Gozitan women,  who are expecting a baby, that need to travel daily, because of their work, to Malta with the danger of losing their baby.

PL spokesperson for Families, Children and People Dr Justyne Caruana said that in  the public sector exists a mechanism that a pregnant woman can ask to be transferred to Gozo provisionally until the birth of the baby. Many times this process takes too long for the detriment of the mother and the unborn child.

"There must be a system that when there is a confirmed pregnancy, the mother should be transferred as soon as possible to Gozo. This is also an important aspect of health and safety at work and so therefore the government should take the responsibility to safeguard the mother and the unborn child", Dr. Caruana said.
