In its run-up to the Final selection meeting on Friday 12th October, the Valletta 2018 Foundation is inviting members of the public to voice their message about how they imagine Malta in 2018. The initiative is travelling around different localities in Malta and Gozo, giving all those interested the opportunity to record a brief message about art and culture in Malta, via a purposely built podium which includes a video camera. The footage is edited daily, and uploaded online, and shared via the Foundation’s website.
The initiative seeks to underline the Foundation’s vision of inclusion and participation – two very important principles which are central to Valletta’s bid to host the title of European Capital of Culture in 2018. The bid, which will be judged officially on Friday 12th October, is built around a Cultural Programme which is the result of a year-long process of engagement with the public which featured a two-day conference, and a series of TEDxValletta workshops. The Cultural Programme is inspired by four themes: Generation, Routes, Cities and Islands.
‘Voice your message’ was launched last week during Freshers’ Week, inviting students to be part of Valletta’s journey towards the title of European Capital of Culture. Over the weekend, ‘Voice your message’ was in Valletta and Marsaxlokk. This week it will be in Buġibba, Birkirkara, Ħamrun, Paola, Sliema, Victoria Gozo, Valletta.
Together with this press release is a press kit with information about the Voice your message initiative.
