Boris you must be kidding!

It cannot get more ridiculous than this! In reply to comments made by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson about articulated buses, Minister Austin Gatt was not amused by the Mayor of London's speech, at the British Conservative Party conference on Tuesday morning, making fun of the Maltese government accept bendy buses in Malta after they were banned in London.

When Austin Gatt launched his public transport reform he had boasted that the bus fleet in Malta would be the most modern in the world.

Gatt's remarks have also made it to the comment boxes and facebook pages.

Austin 'ghamilna pipi' Gatt states  in the press release issued by the Department of Information:

"Apart from the fact that this must be the first time in living memory that the MLP has found anything useful to repeat from the British Conservatives, we assure Mayor Johnston that passengers in Malta appreciate the comfort and the sheer capacity of articulated buses as they comfortably carry in a single bus journey what used to take 3 to 4 buses before".

"By our mathematics that is considerably less congestion, rather than more. Mayor Johnson's mathematics will have to work out the considerably higher expense for bespoke buses that London tax-payers have to pay for to replace the transferred bendy buses, " he added.

He forgot to mention that another reason for having less congestion could be that now commuters have to wait for one hour in the scorching sun,  instead of hopping on a bus every ten minutes or so. Gatt's public transport reform fiasco is still making thousands of commuters suffer.

It seems that Minister Gatt, when traveling to Gozo, passes through the St Paul's Bay by-pass and not through the Town!! Every time two Bendy's meet on the opposite sides of the road, all traffic stops! There goes the claim for "less congestion".

Hon Austin Gatt should try travelling from Balluta to Paceville sometime when two or even three bendy buses are behind each other waiting to drive into the bus lane. It takes 30 mins to cover 2KM.
