Gonzi’s propaganda machine has received a severe setback through the decision handed down by the Broadcasting Authority. GonziPN is in hysterics since this would need a change of strategy. GonziPN’s plans to gain political advantage have been foiled and his strategy team will have to use the power of incumbency in different ways.
The Broadcasting Authority has ruled in favour of the PL. The Labour Party insisted that is should be free to decide who to send as its representative on PBS programs. On the other hand PBS wanted to be the sole deciding factor as to should be invited as a guest on PBS programs.
Informed sources said that the decision was not plain sailing. A heated discussion ensued during the Broadcasting Authority meeting. The Public Broadcasting Service insisted that it should be free to decide who should be a guest on its programs, and not the political parties. The PL had argued that PBS should not dictate who should represent the party.
The BA decision to maintain a proven system was taken after what informed sources said was a heated discussion within the BA. The problem arose when the Labour Party decided to appoint Mr. Karmenu Vella as its representative on a program in which job creation was being discussed. Originally, PBS had invited Charles Mangion to the program.
In defence of the administration of PBS and its chief editor, Natalino Fenech, the PN attacked the decision taken by the Malta Broadcasting authority in a most disgraceful manner. The Nationalist party would have been in a position to take political advantage on state owned television.
The PN response clarified the position taken initially, that of issuing no comment to the original decision taken by PBS that would have negatively affected all political parties. It is quite obvious that, through influence, GonziPN would have manoeuvred itself into an advantageous position.
The PN statement is proof that the Gonzi administration intends to use its power of incumbency by unscrupulously using the same people it has appointed to run state owned media in order to gain political advantage over all other political parties.
GonziPN should be ashamed of such actions.

- Fri 05-Oct-2012, 11:19GonziPN is not ashamed of the hospital waiting lists, nor the disastrous state of our education, therefore I am not surprised that they are not ashamed in clinging on to power.
As for the latest issue, one just has,to take a look at how PL speakers are treated on PBS programmes. Certain presenters can't hide their hostility towards PL as evidenced even by the tone they use - just like an agressive interrogation.
Let's not wate time on them j there are far more serious issues that PL will have to face when in Govt, such as the spokes in the wheels that anti-Labour militants will place.
