The police have arrested Noel Calleja who is suspected to have repeatedly stabbed the 44-year-old woman, an MMDNA nurse, after an argument arose in a parked car at around 17.45hrs Thursday in the Ta' Farsina area of Qormi.

Calleja was found hiding in a farm in Qormi. The suspect had previously been involved in another stabbing case and was taken to court two years ago

The aggressor, 30-year-old man from Qormi, who was threatening the victim, followed the victim out of the car and allegedly stabbed her with a sharp and pointed object.  She was left lying face down in a pool of blood. Her colleague, 18, who happened to be in the car as well, called for help. The man left the scene on foot.

The woman was rushed to Mater Dei hospital in an ambulance. She is not in danger of dying though suffering from severe wounds.

District police are investigating.

This is the second attack on a woman in the space of a little more than 24 hours, after another woman was shot in Rabat on Wednesday early afternoon, reportedly by her husband, a police in plain clothes. She is in danger of dying.
