DHL Express Malta, which operates from a dedicated logistics centre at Malta International Airport, held a staff training day on 11 September, 2012, with the title ‘Welcome to My Country’.
The training session enabled the company’s 40 members of staff to appreciate the history of DHL in Malta as it is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.
They were also given a clear outline of how the local operation functions across departments, from the couriers who made deliveries and collect parcels to Customer Service, Finance, Sales and Imports. Before the session the staff was taken near the bright yellow and red Airbus A320, which flies to Malta daily to import and export DHL packages, to witness the uploading operation.
“This is the second level of training for employees of DHL Express in Malta,” Manager Charles Schiavone explained. “We started conducting Certified International Specialist (CIS) training for employees at all levels in 2011 with the CIS Foundation module.
“This module was repeated last month for seven employees who subsequently joined the company. The next step is to hold training for the individual departments, since we want our staff to be specialised in what they are doing, following the maxim Nobody knows ‘How to’ Like I do.”
The aim of DHL globally is to be: the employer of choice; the provider of choice; and the investment of choice.
