Trying to analyse Lawrence Gonzi’s speech at the PN Mass meeting is almost impossible. Apart from the self-praise and incorrect interpretations of the economic situation in Malta, there was nothing to report, or almost.
The PN Leader spent a whole hour dwelling on what he calls achievements. Obviously it is his job to try and persuade people that only good comes out of his government. He is not expected to mention the fiascos in the management of the economy, the BWSC and other scandals, nor is he expected to mention his stand on the divorce issue. One should not pretend that Gonzi will brag about the € 500 weekly increase that he had given to himself and to his ministers.
But to imply that he is holding on to power because his government ‘enjoys the confidence of the House’ is ridiculous. Hand on heart and/or in a confessionary, who could possibly agree to Gonzi’s statement? He said he calls the shots and that is precisely why he is still in government.
Any additional comment is superfluous.

- Fri 21-Sep-2012, 13:47The analysis that I did of Gonzi's speech yesterday is that he has no regrets and is promising more of the same if he manages to win next election, to be more precise the oligarchy that has become the system of GonziPN will reign supreme.
