British Prime Minister David Cameron has issued a public apology for cover-ups and failures
over the Hillsborough disaster of  1989 in which 96 football fans lost their lives at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. Media reports blamed the fans for the tragedy, now, 23 years later, a newly published report indicates that the authorities should have been held responsible.
 
Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic has revealed that Manchester City and Juventus had tried to sign him during the summer transfer window. Jovetic said he turned down both offers because he wanted to see Fiorentina return to European club competition.
 
Ahead of this weekend’s San Marino Moto GP, Ben Spies has announced that he will be riding for the Pramac Ducati team next year. The American is leaving Yamaha at the end of this year and his place will be taken by Valentino Rossi who is hoping that a return to Yamaha will give him a shot at another world title.
 
Snooker’s  world governing body is investigating a match between 6 times world champion Steve Davis and Thepchaiya un-Nooh of Thailand. The snooker body say they are concerned about betting patterns on this match which took place in England last weekend.
