The University of Malta has renewed a Sponsorship Agreement with Middlesea Insurance p.l.c. and MSV Life p.l.c, covering the next three years.

The University offers a full-time course that responds to the needs of the financial services industry. However, a steady development in these areas, including those involving the insurance business, has resulted in a significant further demand for specialised and well-trained personnel.

To this end, in 2008, the University had introduced a major in Insurance in the Bachelor of Commerce and in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) under the aegis of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy. Through the renewed sponsorship agreement the course will continue to be run, managed and coordinated by the Department of Banking and Finance, while the Board of Studies will encourage students to gain work experience with the Sponsors.

This agreement will enable the Department of Banking and Finance to invite again three foreign professors and specialists  to come and teach the fourth year Honors students in Insurance and to help the Department to conduct research in the Insurance area.

Prof. Juanito Camilleri signed the Agreement on behalf of the University of Malta while Middlesea Insurance p.l.c.  was represented by its President and CEO,  Mr. Alfredo Muñoz Perez, and MSV Life p.l.c. was represented by its CEO Mr. David G. Curmi.
