During an activity at the National Labour Centre, the Labour Party leader Dr Joseph Muscat gave trophies of recognition to Maltese athletes who took part in the Mini Olympics.
Young people who represented Malta achieved the best results as the football team earned the gold medal and scored no less than 21 goals, whilst athletes achieved several good results.
Dr Muscat congratulated the Maltese athletes for the work done during the year, and stressed that these results were achieved with the dedication of both athletes, parents and coaches.
The Labour leader said that this activity serves so as more people recognise the success that these athletes have managed to get for them and for our country.
The Director of Special Olympics Malta Anna Calleja, while thanking the Labour leader, claimed that these athletes deserve every praise, recognition and opportunity because they are successful athletes showing great seriousness and discipline throughout their training.
She appealed to children with disabilities to be given the same opportunities as other athletes in the national sports school.
Also present were the Labour Party spokesperson for Sport and Local Organizations Chris Agius, and the spokesperson for the Family, Children and Disabled Justyne Caruana.
