On Wednesday 12th September 2012 Café Deux Baronnes will be hosting “Għanja Fuq il-Barrakka,” an evening of songs from Malta and abroad organized by the commitee of L-Għanja tal-Poplu. Since Café Deux Baronnes is situated on the left side of the Upper Barrakka, those attending will be enjoying an evening of song and music by Maltese artists together with the wonderful view the Grand harbour by night.
The performers are:
Justin Galea who has just spent a year studying in the United Kingdom and has spent this summer regularly giving creative performances mostly in Maltese. Ruth Abela ( Troffa Ħamra) has just returned from Spain where she perfomed with her Spanish group Troffa Hamra y les Mechones. Justin and Ruth accompanied by drummer Mark (Iz-zizza) will be presenting us with a combination of Maltese and foreign themes .
Justin and Anonio Olivari will be perfoming original songs written by Antonio Olivari for the festival L-Għanja tal-Poplu. Antonio will also be accompanying Mario Debono who will be giving us the Maltese version of international folk songs, so popular with YTC old members.
Grecia Bezzina has just returned from the Festival Canzoni Dal Mondo in Maiori Italy, after placing second in the Festival L-Għanja Tal-Poplu 2012. In Canzoni Dal Mondo Grecia was awarded the audience price. Grecia and her brother Dario Bezzina will be perfoming their songs from l-Għanja Tal-Poplu.
Kultural who won L-Għanja Tal-Poplu 2012 will also be entertaining us with their performance. A week later this young enthusiastic group will be travelling to Turkey to participate in an international festival they will also be performing with their original Maltese songs in different localities in Istanbul.
