On Wednesday at 12.15pm a cylinder used to shoot paper confetti during the morning march band exploded in the Gudja square and injured four boys aged between 12 and 16 from Gudja, Zebbug, Gzira and Valletta, two men aged 22 and 26 from Gudja and Zabbar and a 33 year old woman from Gudja. The festa of Santa Maria is being celebrated today in Gudja. Five were hurt slightly . Three were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
The two who were seriously hurt are Bjorn Callus and Alexander Bigeni.
26 year old Bjorn Callus was left with wounds in his face, neck and shoulders. 16 year old Alexander Bigeni who was near the cylinder when it exploded suffered serious injuries below his right knee.
