The Malta China Freindship Society once again was instrumental in promoting  freindship between the people of Malta and China.

On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of Sino-Maltese relations, the  M.C.F.S. arranged ar a meeting between the  Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Malta Medical School with the counterpart of the Fudan University of  Shanghai, China. 
 
The academic meeting discussed the problems of diabetes in pregnancy and  discussed  the  results of  the research that the two sides made in connection with this conditon in pregnant women. 
 
The maltese team was led  by Prof. Charles Savona-Ventura Academic Head: Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of Malta  Medical School.  The delegation from Fudan  University was led by  Prof Xiaojun Chen and included  Prof Li Xiao Tain, Dr. Weirong Gu, Dr Xishi. 

In October last year, the Chairman of the M.C|F.S.  Mr Reno Calleja, paid a visit to the Fudan hosptial that took care of President Abela when he  was injured in April 2010.

Mr Calleja convinced the Chinese  doctors that took care of President Abela  to visit Malta in April to commomerate this event. In April this year they came and had an emotional meeting with President Abela University of Malta Medical School.
 
During his visit to this hospital which has one of the finest acupunture section in China, Mr. Calleja enquired if it was possible to use acupunture to reduce the pain for women during labour.

Back in Malta, Mr. Calleja contacted Professor Charles Savona Ventura on the matter, who followed up with the contact made by Mr. Calleja, which resutled in this acadeimc meeting.
 
The Univeristy of Mlta and MTA assisted the M.C.F.S. to provide transport, tours, meals and hospitality to the Chinese doctors.
