
The Labour Party congratulates the Maltese swimmer Andrew Chetcuti who set a new national record in the 100 metres freestyle heats at the London Olympic Games on Tuesday.
Besides finishing in the third place, Andrew managed to meet his objective, not only by improving his personal time but by setting a new national record.
"This result shows further commitment, seriousness and dedication of the Maltese youth in the pursiut to continue to thrive and meet certain standards to honour Malta in international competitions," PL stated.
PL augured the Maltese contigency to do their best and keep on raising the Maltese flag high in the London Olympic Games.
Starting in lane five of the third heat, Andrew Chetcuti completed the distance in 51.67 seconds - 0.18 seconds faster than his own national best he set earlier this year.
Chetcuti finished the race third behind Albania’s Sidni Hoxha (51.11) and Guam’s Kevin Soto (51.44).
