The Malta Cine Circle’s annual National Film Competition is to be held at Gemini Hall, Hotel Le Meridien, Balluta on Thursday, August 9th, starting at 7.30pm. There is going to be screened 14 participating short films, all produced locally, followed by presentation of awards.

This event goes back to the mid-50's. Hundreds of local productions have been entered in this competition and several have also successful in competitions overseas. These films, ranging from fiction, travelogues, documentaries, animations, and others have provided a unique visual record of the Maltese way of life over these years.
