Great Britain were held to a 1-1 draw by Senegal in their opening Group A match.

Craig Bellamy looked to have given Team GB the perfect start with a first half goal but supporters at the Old Trafford stadium were stunned when Senegal equalizied late in the game to deny Team GB a win in their first game.

In other games last night, Japan caused the first upset with a 1-0 defeat of Spain.

Gabon held Switzerland to a 1-1 draw while Mexico and South Korea had to settle for a goal-less draw.
Urugay came from a goal down to beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1, Berarus claimed a fine 1-0 win against New Zealand and Brazil were pushed all the way in their 3-2 victory against Egypt.

The opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics takes place at 20.12 tonight, the exact time reflecting the date of the games.

Wlliam Chetcuti will be the flag bearer for Malta.
