UEFA Champions League
It’s a big day for Valletta as they take on Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade in the first leg of the second round of Champions League qualifiers.
City romped through round one but are aware that Partizan are very strong and dangerous opponents.
For tonight’s home game Valletta have drafted in several new players including their former striker Frank Temile who had been with Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine.
The Newcastle and Andy Carroll saga rumbles on with the Magpies reported to have upped their offer to Liverpool to bring Carroll back to St James’s Park on a loan deal.
Liverpool rejected their first offer and are believed to be willing to sell Carroll for around 20 million pounds. That may just be beyond the Newcastle budget.
Carroll scored 33 goals during his time at St James’s Park but has struggled to find his goal-scoring touch at Anfield and with new boss Brendon Rodgers looking to bring in new strikers, Carroll is believed to be keen to return to Tyneside.
