Richard Cachia Caruana believes that the attempt on his life in December 1994 was also due to Former President and Deputy Prime Minister Guido de Marco telling Brigadier Maurice Calleja that he had to resign after his daughter Clarissa was caught trafficking drugs.
Maltastar.com has seen evidence of Cachia Caruana saying: “And I have no doubt, whatever he (Guido de Marco) says, even though I talk to him and I smile at him and we sort of get on – I have no doubt li hu lil Maurice Calleja qallu ‘din mhux xi cucata ta’ Richard Cachia Caruana’ – I have no doubt right because of the way things developed."
Cachia Caruana also said: "...plus there was Guido of course – let us not forget what I have been through, with Guido’s children defending the person who tried to kill me? “
Cachia Caruana believes that there was an attempt to assassinate him because he was blamed for putting pressure on Prime Minister Fenech Adami to get Agriculture Minister Lawrence Gatt and Brigadier Maurice Calleja to resign because of their children’s involvement in drug trafficking.

Monday evening - The second PN Minister that according to Richard Cachia Caruana was implicated in his attempted murder in 1994 is former President and Deputy Prime Minister Guido de Marco. After maltastar.com said in the morning that Cachia Caruana implicated two PN Ministers, he denied ever making such an allegation. Maltastar.com has seen evidence that Cachia Caruana blames de Marco for triggering the attempt on his life by what he told Brigadier Maurice Calleja when he was told to resign after his daughter Clarissa was caught trafficking drugs with the former bodyguard of Prime Minister Fenech Adami, Zeppi l-Hafi.
When Maltastar.com in the afternoon mentioned that one of the Ministers was former Agriculture Minister Lawrence Gatt, Cachia Caruana remained silent.
Maltastar.com has obtained a recording of Cachia Caruana clearly implicating Lawrence Gatt and his son Etienne in his attempted murder. Gatt said that the allegation that he was involved in Cachia Caruana’s attempted murder is a blatant lie; he declared that he had nothing to do with it and was seeking legal advice on the matter.

Monday afternoon - Lawrence Gatt is one of the PN Ministers that Richard Cachia Caruana believes was implicated in the attempted murder on him in December 1994. Evidence passed on to maltastar.com has Cachia Caruana saying: “Ghax remember, when talking about Meinrad and the father and Lawrence Gatt – frankly fucking hell okay at the end of the day if it wasn’t for Lawrence Gatt and his escaped son, right, nothing would have happened to me…”
On 6 April 1995 the police had arrested Etienne Gatt whose father Lawrence had resigned as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries on 4 July 1994 when his son was named in a drug-related case unsolved to this day. The police had investigated reports that a major drug ring used Lawrence Gatt’s office in Mosta run by his son in his business activities and to meet his father’s constituents. Etienne had mentioned to the police that he had heard that two Italian hit men were to be brought over to Malta to eliminate Cachia Caruana.
On 27 October 1996 Lawrence Gatt told ‘The Malta Independent’ that his son Etienne had fled the country “because he was afraid for his life”: “The reason why my son left Malta was obvious ... because these people ... but I do not want to say anything ... one does not have to be too intelligent to realize why my son decided to leave Malta. Prime Minister Fenech Adami never spoke to me about the connexion between my son and drugs.”
On 26 August 1995 the police arrested Ciro del Negro, a Southern Italian married to a woman from Naxxar, on his way back to Malta. Del Negro was in Malta on the night of the crime (18 December 1994) and left again, with his family on 21 December 1994, for the Christmas holidays. Del Negro told the police that he had learned of the attempted murder in June of that year. His lawyer Franco Azzopardi had told him the police suspected Etienne Gatt as being one of the persons behind the attempted murder of Cachia Caruana.
Monday morning - Richard Cachia Caruana believes that two PN Ministers were involved in the attempt on his life in 1994. Cachia Caruana had been stabbed just a week before the Christmas of 1994.
Evidence seen by maltastar.com shows that Cachia Caruana has “no doubts” that two PN Ministers were implicated in the stabbing at Imdina. The two Ministers served in the cabinet of Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami.
Dr Fenech Adami had said that drug barons were behind Cachia Caruana’s attempted murder in the night of 18 December 1994 near his house at Imdina.

And there is such a thing as an idiolect which is a variety of language that is unique to a person, leaving aside the construction of a sentence and the choice of words. For example, and I am no expert, the moment I look at such a transcript I can tell straight away that a Maltese person spoke it (and not because there are Maltese words in it. Whether it is admitted in court or not is irrelevant. What matters is its political impact and the damage it inflicts on the PN. Let me say this to you, the words allegedly uttered by RCC inflict more damage on the party (in my view) than anything said and done by JPO, JM and FD. This is a big, big story.

What I can say is that surely EFA benefits from this privilege. Even Alfred Sant, when he was Prime Minister did not bother in having any security. This alone says a lot.

There are simply too MANY skeletons in their overflowing cupboards.
