Europa League
Hibernian’s bowed out of the Europa League with a creditable 4-4 draw against Sarajevo.
Trailing 5-2 from the first leg, Hib’s knew they faced an almost impossible task but despite going behind early in this game, the FA Trophy winners fought back to end a thrilling first half leading 4-3.
Sarajevo then equalized in the last minute of normal time to deny Hib’s victory but their performance should give them plenty of confidence ahead of next month’s Premier league season opener against Mosta.
There was no joy either for B’Kara who were knocked out following a goal-less draw against Metalburg in Macedonia.
B’Kara drew 2-2 in their first leg but could not find an away goal that could have put them into the second round.
Moto GP
As Valentino Rossi tries to give his fans something to cheer about at this weekend’s Italian Moto GP at Mugello, Honda have announced that Marc Marquez will replace Casey Stoner next year when the Australian retires at the end of this season.
Olympics
With just 14 days to the start of the London Olympics organizers have expressed concerns over travel arrangements and security.
Over 17,000 service personnel have been drafted in to provide security cover after the government discovered only last Wednesday that the security company for the games did not have enough trained security staff.
Transfers
Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reported to be close to signing for French club Paris Saint Germain.
Ibrahimovic earns a reported 12 million euros with Milan and is thought to be demanding around 16 million euros to join the French side.
