Online microblogging service Twitter has been hit by a new trend, whereby users take picture of their semi-naked partners in bed and then post them on Twitter rather than stick to the short 140 character text take.

Thousands of such intimate pictures, reportedly without the knowledge of the females in the photo, are now on Twitter after Geordie Shore, UK reality TV star Gaz Beadle, came up with the idea for kicks.

The hashtages #bedofshame and #awkwardsundays suddenly flooded Twitter and, not happy with the wave of response, Gaz is urging men to do it again next week.

This story proves once again the ease with which intimate moments can be shared only and raise privacy issues as the girls and women involved were not consilted and permission sought before their pictures were shared online.

Some Twitter users expressed their anger and revolt at the stunt.
