September election still likely

Parliament is set to go into its summer recess on Wednesday 11 July and all indications are that it will not meet again before the next election which is still very likely to be held in late September or early October 2012. Parliament will be dissolved without reconvening it at the end of summer.

Government wants to avoid bringing any motion or bill on which a vote is called as it does not want to lose another vote in parliament before the election.

Following the new flare-up within the PN Parliamentary Group leading to the condemnation of the three MPs: Franco Debono, Jesmond Mugliett and Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, with very little chance of healing the rift, the PN strategy team is telling Prime Minister and PN leader Lawrence Gonzi to call elections sooner rather than later.

Even those, like Minister Austin Gatt, who were pushing for an election in 2013, feel that the situation is getting worse by the day and making it more difficult for the PN to recover lost support.

To me, it looks like the PM will call a general election at the end of the closing session of parliament. The next day, at the executive meeting of the nationalist party he will expel JPO, FD and JM,

THE PL HAS A DOWN TO EARTH PARTY BUT AS ALWAYS THE ODDS FAVOUR THE PN WITH ALL THIER LIES AND CONNIVING TO WIN THE ELECTION HENCE IT MAKES THE PN THE MASTERS OF DECIET AND ILLUSIONS.

Jiena li kont mid-diriġenza ta'din il-gazzetta ma nsemmix iżjed dwar l-elezzjoni. Tiġi meta trid. Veru li aħna qed inbatu imm'issa ftit xhur oħra ma jgħamlux differenza. Anzi iżjed ma ddum iżjed il-kawlata tiffermenta.

Is this the way not to introduce the Cohabition Bill. Very convenient to go for summer holidays leaving things once again on the shelf.

The soonet General Elections are called the better for the benefit of the vulnerable citizens and pensioners, as life cannot be coped with at the present moment. It was a shame on the government to watch ONE news with reference to the Schedule V business ongoing at St Luke's Outpatients Dept.

Now that parliament has been closed permanently the next move is an early election seeing that Gonzi has no parliamentary majority now or never.

The PN condemnation of the tree dissidents and the ferocious attacks directed to them by Gonzi is a clear indication that their support in parliament is no longer required. Hence the election immediately after the summer recess.
