Footballer hit by goalpost, fighting for life

A 45 year old man from Gharghur is in Mater Dei Hospital fighting for his life. The police say he was hit by a hard object while playing at the football ground in Floriana in Great Siege Road at 16.15 on Sunday. Sources say that a goalpost fell on him.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as being in a critical condition.

A magisterial inquiry is underway.
