
The maximum temperature is expected to continue to rise further in the following days. The Ministry for Health, the Elderly and Community Care would like to advise the public on the importance of keeping well hydrated during the hot summer months.
High temperatures cause water to be lost from the body at quick rates resulting in dehydration. It can also lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke. The heat can affect anyone but some people run a greater risk of serious harm including older people, babies and young children, people with chronic conditions and physically active people.

- Wed 20-Jun-2012, 14:54The prior observation has it right about fans. All a fan does is to speed up the evaporation of fluids from the body, simulation of sweating. It does NOT create cool air. The air remains at the same temperature with or without a fan. Bear this in mind- use the fan, but drink plenty of fluids as compensation for the losses.

- Wed 20-Jun-2012, 11:21In such conditions, better wet a bath room towel and place it over your shoulders like a cape. This is better then 'Fans' as these give off hot air in the room. You will remain cool all day.
