The Executive of the Nationalist Party in a statement this evening condemned Nationalist MPs Franco Debono, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett over the way they voted in parliament on the motions against Carm Mifsud Bonnici and Richard Cachia Caruana.
Debono supported a motion tabled in December 2011 by the Opposition listing the shortcomings in the Justice and Home Affairs Ministry run by Carm Mifsud Bonnici. The minister resigned after the motion was carried. A month before MP Franco Debono had tabled a motion where he criticised the way this ministry was being run but the government did not put it on the agenda before the Labour motion was debated and voted upon.
Last Monday MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando voted in favour of a motion calling on Richard Cachia Caruana to resign from his post as Malta’s EU Permanent Representative as parliament was by passed when government reactivated Malta's participation in the Partnership for Peace programme of NATO. MP Jesmond Mugliett abstained on the motion. The motion was carried and Cachia Caruana tendered his resignation.
Yesterday the PN wanted to call a meeting for the parliamentary group but a number of MPs did not want to attend a meeting with Debono, Pullicino Orlando and Mugliett and the meeting was called off.
