People made to pay for the recession

Labour Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs Anglu Farrugia said on Wednesday that people are being made to pay for the recession cause by right wing government in Europe and Malta as they adopted a policy of austerity and not of economic growth.

Farrugia said that even in Malta the government’s solution was to increase water and electricity bills, gas used for cooking and warming homes while local families have lower wages than in the rest of the EU but higher prices.

“No wonder that in March 2012 families spent 4.5% lower than last year. While families suffer government gives the impression that everything is perfect in Malta and Gozo while the other countries in the EU are going through a crisis.”

Farrugia said that the government has wrong priorities and decisions are taken for the benefit of a few who are very close to the PN. The Prime Ministers and his ministers gave themselves a €500 weekly rise behind the people’s and Parliament’s back.

Farrugia said that government should say what plans it has to get Malta out of recession and create wealth and better jobs and not continue making people pay bitterly for its mismanagement

The Labour party should watch out, as if in power, will not find the hidden potholes of PN as in the past.
