Former casino employee gets €42,000

 A 41 year old woman who used to work at the Dragonara Casino is to get €42,000 in compensation after she was hurt emptying the slot machines.

Lucienne Cassar sued Dragonara Casino for the injuries she suffered.

She said she hurt her right arm after she tried to empty the hopper full of coins and weighing 20 kilos. She said she hurt so much that she could not rise from where she was kneeling and eventually her colleagues had to help her stand up again. She was taken to hospital and the x-ray showed that she had fractured her right wrist and it had to be put in plaster for six weeks.

Cassar said that in 2007 when she was five months pregnant she was in a lot of pain and head to leave her job because of the injury she had incurred at the casino` and she also had to give birth through a caesarean operation. She said she is still in pain today and sometimes she wakes up in pain at night and she cannot carry a lot of weight and cannot stand for long and cannot even of her housework properly like wringing the clothes of her children

The court said that the company had not offered a safe workplace for its employees and ordered it to pay €42,000 in compensation to Lucienne Cassar.
