59 migrants - 55 men and four women - claiming to be from Pakistan, Syria, Somalia and Kashmir have been rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta and brought to Malta on Sunday morning.
On Saturday night the AFM received reports that a dinghy possibly carrying migrants was traced at 68NM off Delimara Point. The AFM scrambled a King Air aircraft to carry out a search.
The dinghy was located at 66 NM off Delimara Point and was heading North with a speed of 3 to 5 knots. An Inshore Patrol Vessel from the Maritime Squadron P24 was also diverted to the said position.
P52 was dispatched to the area to monitor the situation and due to an increasing swell and deteriorating conditions onboard the dinghy, it was decided to transfer the immigrants onboard the Protector Class Patrol Boat (P52) at 0440 hrs.

- Sun 17-Jun-2012, 16:29While not agreeing that we should not vote, I support Listen PL because the people are fed up with the illegal immigrants and want them out of Malta at all costs, myself included.
The PL had better listen to the people because I heard a lot of similar threats of people refusing to vote for the matters mentioned by Listen PL and if the PL doesn't listen to the people it will end up being rejected like the PN has been and is going to be rejected.

- Sun 17-Jun-2012, 12:32Rest assured Mr. Listen PL that the Labour Party will publish its Electoral manifesto immediately the Election date is announced. Be more that sure that the PL is ready for the election with a great programme that would leave nobody out. Next time you put comments be more sensible. God Bless Our Great Leader Dr. Joseph Muscat.

- Sun 17-Jun-2012, 12:16At least this is one aspect of Malta's transport system which the PN seem to have got working perfectly, the transport of illegal immigrants to the island!

- Sun 17-Jun-2012, 11:14PL, either you put it in your electoral manifesto that you shall expel all those who entered Malta illegally within one month of taking power and to repeal membership of the refugee convention and to get us out of the EU forthwith on taking power, or else you can forget our families votes.
You are no longer the party that works for Malta and the Maltese people but you have become foreigners lackeys like the PN, puppets pulled by strings from Brussels and others.
Let's see if you will publish this comment Editor.
