Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park, Malta’s only natural National Park, has recently received a sponsorship from Avantech in the form of 5 digital Canon cameras to be used for the park’s environmental education programme. The cameras were presented by Avantech on 31st May during a school visit by St. Patrick's Salesian School where students spent a day at the park volunteering with Park rangers as well as attending the educational nature walk. Avantech (www.avantech.com.mt) has always been keen to participate in opportunities which support environmental initiatives.
The park regularly holds guided nature walks and nature related activities for schools, groups and the general public to encourage greater awareness about our surroundings whilst promoting outdoor activities which benefit both mind and body. The Park would like to thank Avantech for their kind donation as the cameras can now be made available to Secondary school students attending the park’s walks on special field visits NaturAvventura which aim to encourage observation and recording skills in the field whilst learning about the park using photography to capture particular geological, biological and cultural features.
Upcoming activities at Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park include a Nature Photography Site visit this Sunday 10 June with one of Malta’s foremost wildlife photographers Guido Bonett; a Summer Solstice Sunset walk on 20 June; and Coastal awareness and snorkeling sessions in July and August.
