The two Libyan Mirage jet fighters left the Maltese islands, precisely a year yesterday, after the two "hero" Libyan pilots defied orders to bomb civilians and defected to Malta.

Bad weather on Tuesday stopped the two Libyan Mirage fighters to return to Libya.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said that "Malta was on the right side of history" when the arrival of the jets put Malta in the international limelight just days after the Libyan conflict started.

Tribal conflicts in Libya are still taking place. 11 people on Tuesday were killed in the fighting.
