Finance Minister Tonio Fenech told parliament on Tuesday evening that government has no intention of ratifying the ACTA Treaty before it is signed by Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Holland and Slovakia and before it is approved by the European Parliament. Malta was one of the first 22 countries rushing to sign the ACTA Treaty.

The Labour Opposition criticised government for signing it straightaway and NGOs organized a protest march in Valletta against the ACTA Treaty as it threatens privacy rights of internet users.

Minister Fenech said that government will not ratify ACTA if it undermines the rights of individuals.
